Why proper ventilation is so important

Ventilation, probably not the first thing that comes to mind when designing a home.  It may be difficult to understand the importance of proper roof ventilation and can be easily overlooked; however, it can be a big part of prolonging the life of one’s roof and can also significantly lower home energy bills.

When heat rises, it reaches the highest point of the house and if there is no escape, it can stay dormant.   This creates excess condensation which in turn creates moisture.  Removing excess moisture and heat from your home would mend this issue and is accomplished using roofing and siding vents. Ventilation is an essential part of proper home construction and without paying it careful attention it can raise many unwanted issues.

Depending on the size and the architectural design of a house, more than one venting fixtures could be installed.  For the roof, we must consider that only air can escape through this vent.  For this, we use what is called a Louver.  A Louver is a ventilation product that allows air to pass through it while keeping out unwanted elements such as water, dirt, and debris.  A number of blades and screens mounted in a vent frame can provide this functionality through a variety of louver vents.  The types of louver vents to be considered are free air, water penetration, and resistance to airflow.
